Free Things to do in (and around) Shawnee!! Part II

   Hey all!!!  I wanted to share with another fun free activity to do in Shawnee.  I don't know if you have been down to the Shawnee library lately, but you need to!  It is a family safe and fun environment and a good free activity to get out of the heat!!! 

     First, on any given day you can take the kiddos down there and they can choose to play with a number of things.  There is a kitchen set, puzzles, books, toys galore and their are children only computers for them to play educational games on.  They use the ELF system that I posted about earlier this week.  Plus, after you are ready to leave they also have awesome bags full of goodies that you can check out and let the fun continue at home.  The area is for children and their guardians only, so you can feel safe while your child is there!!!  Plus, there is a bathroom in the section meant only for these children and their parents.  Its really nice!

     Second, the library has a good selection of DVDs that can be checked out at your leisure.  I looked and some titles seemed fairly recent!  So, save your self a couple of bucks and check out what they have while your there!

     Third, the library is trying really hard to provide the community with fun and popular things to do.  I was super impressed with our library, as I was speaking with one of our sweet librarians.  They are really making an effort to be there for the community in any way they can.  The library is extremely coupon friendly (although because of software restriction you can not print coupons at the library) and have tons of books on the subject!  They even are offering coupon classes in the near future!  But, I digress the library offers tons of programs for Children, Teens and Adults.  Children's programs are usually Tuesday and Thursdays at 10am or 2pm.  The book I have list events for kiddos through July 21st.  There are probably more upcoming, but will be released in another booklet is my guess.  Teens are Tuesday, Wed. and Fridays usually starting at 2pm and listed through July 29th.  Adults are Monday, Thursday and Friday at varying times.  If you want to see what events are coming up check out our libraries web page here http://www.pioneer.lib.ok.us/shatop
